Sydney Phelan, BSN, RN, IBCLC
After graduation from nursing school at Texas A&M, Sydney moved to Charleston and began her career as an RN in an adult surgical specialty and step-down unit. She gained valuable experience and enhanced her skills, but felt called to serve another patient population – mothers and babies. Sydney knew working with mothers and babies was her calling for many years and just had to find the perfect role in which to serve this population. Sydney chose to continue her education to become a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist so she could assist and serve mothers and babies during this wonderful but sometimes intimidating stage of life. Sydney became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2018. Working at the Breastfeeding Center of Charleston is an exciting new way for her to combine her nursing skills with her passion to set mothers and babies on a path to successful breastfeeding.
When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog and two cats.
