Understanding Baby's Development
Understanding Baby's Development is a one-hour class created to help manage expecting or new parents concerns about the development of their bundle of joy. Executive Director of Empowered Family, Ashlin Blum, LISW-CP, BCBA, will provide information about what is typical child development, how to interpret information from your pediatrician, and what to do if development will affect the future of your child. Understanding Baby's Development is open to expectant, new and experienced parents. This class is free of charge.
Baby Wearing Meet-Up!
Join the Lowcountry Babywearing Group, a local non-profit that helps moms find baby wearing solutions for a Meet-Up in our classroom space.
Lowcountry Babywearing Group can help you troubleshoot any carrier that you own and need help with. They also have an extensive lending library of more than 60 different carriers that can be tried on, fitted and rented out until the next meet-up. Meet-ups are two hours and are a drop-in style class.
Caregivers and children of all types and ages are welcome. The meet-up is free of charge, but there is a small fee for any carrier rentals.
Newborn 101 is a class for all expectant parents. During this hour, you will join Dr. Elizabeth Milliron, MD, IBCLC, Medical Director of the Breastfeeding Center of Charleston to learn everything you will need to know about the first few weeks after your baby has arrived. If you have questions of what to expect or what you will need to welcome home baby this class is for you. Newborn 101 will be offered the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm and is free of charge.View Class Schedule
If you are interested in Breastfeeding this class is for you. A certified lactation consultant from the Breastfeeding Center of Charleston will guide you through this 1.5-hour class to learn the secrets to early success and how to best prepare for Breastfeeding. Many topics will be discussed and there will be time for questions and answers. We welcome any expectant parents with an interest in Breastfeeding to this class. Prenatal Breastfeeding will typically be offered at our Mount Pleasant location on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 5pm and at our Summerville location on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 5:30pm and is free of charge. Your Body After Baby
Your Body After Baby is a one hour class designed to help new, expectant, or experienced mothers understand the changes that occur in her body post-partum. Caitlin McCurdy-Robinson, PT, DPT, APTA, CAPP-OB Certified, Physical Therapist of Private Therapy Services will cover issues associated with abdominal and pelvic floor muscle weakness, hormone changes, and the strains of care-giving for your new baby. The Mother's Circle
The Mother's Circle is a time set aside for mothers of newborns to infants up to 6 months of age to meet with other mothers and a Breastfeeding Center of Charleston Certified Lactation Consultant to discuss topics relevant to you and your baby. Topics will be directed by the group in attendance and facilitated by the lactation consultant. We expect topics to include feeding, sleeping, nursing, the highs and the lows of breastfeeding and so much more. Our Lactation consultant will facilitate the conversation, but this is a time to come together with other mothers to bond over the new joys of parenting. Depending on the topics please anticipate conversation for 1-1.5 hours. The Mother's Circle is free of charge and will be offered at our Mount Pleasant Location on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at 11:15 am and at our Summerville Location on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at 11:30 am.View Class Schedule
